  Homa Bahrami is an international educator, advisor, board member, and author, specializing in organizational flexibility, team alignment, and dynamic leadership in global, knowledge-based industries. She is a senior lecturer at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, a faculty director and executive teaching fellow at Berkeley Executive Education, and has served on the Board of the Haas Center for Teaching Excellence.

  Bahrami is the co-author of a major textbook (with Harold Leavitt, Stanford University), ”Managerial Psychology: Managing Behavior in Organizations,” published by the University of Chicago Press, and translated into many languages. Her latest book, “Super-Flexibility for Knowledge Enterprises,” (second edition published by Springer and co-authored with Stuart Evans, Carnegie Mellon) focuses on practical approaches for strategizing, organizing, and leading knowledge workers based on their collective experience and field research in Silicon Valley during the past 30 years.

  Bahrami has served on the boards of directors of three public technology companies and has been a member of all three board committees: audit, compensation, and governance. She is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and is active in executive education and executive development in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

  She serves as a member of the Board of Directors for FormFactor, Inc., a director for Pedagogy, Inc., an Advisory Director for Securitas Capital, a Member of the Advisory Boards for: Institute for Growth & Innovation, Icarian, Kadiri, Green Border, and Mercer Tech, and as an advisor and executive educator for global and high tech companies in the U.S. and Europe.

  Sara Beckman

  Sara Beckman has spent her years as a boundary spanner at UC Berkeley, where she has held faculty appointments in both the Haas School of Business and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. She developed, institutionalized and directed the school’s Management of Technology Program and served as the Chief Learning Officer of the Jacobs Institute of Design Innovation within Berkeley's College of Engineering. She now serves on the Jacobs Institute of Design Innovation's Faculty Council and co-teaches a class on Collaborative Innovation with colleagues from the Theater/Dance Performance Studies and Art Practice departments

  Beckman’s research focuses on the pedagogy of teaching design and on the role of diversity on design and innovation teams for which she developed a Teaming with Diversity curriculum that is being used in classes in engineering, biological sciences, humanities, and business courses at UC Berkeley as well as at a local high school. She has published case studies on design for sustainability, design roadmapping, and leveraging design approaches in sales processes.

  Beckman directs the Product Management Program for the Berkeley Center for Executive Education, serving over 350 product managers from around the world each year and works with a wide variety of companies teaching and helping them implement design and innovation practices. In her time at UC Berkeley, she has received three Distinguished Teaching Awards at Haas, the campus-wide Distinguished Teaching Award, and in 2018, the Carol D. Soc Distinguished Graduate Student Mentoring Award for Senior Faculty.

  Before joining UC Berkeley, Beckman worked in the Operations Management Services group at Booz, Allen & Hamilton and ran the Change Management Team at Hewlett-Packard. She received BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management and an MS in Statistics from Stanford University.

  Jennifer Chatman is the Paul J. Cortese Distinguished Professor of Management and a faculty member in the Management of Organizations (MORS) Group at Berkeley Haas. In her research, teaching, and consulting work, she focuses on how organizations can leverage culture for strategic success and how diverse teams can optimize performance.

  Chatman's award-winning research has shown, for example, how emphasizing innovation in the context of a strong culture increases firms’ financial success, how narcissistic leaders create organizational cultures lower in collaboration and integrity, and how norms to cooperate can cause members to blur differences among them, even if those differences are useful for group performance—suggesting that collaboration should be calibrated in diverse teams.

  Chatman is the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Haas School of Business, the Co-Director of the Berkeley Culture Center, and Editor-in-Chief for the journal Research in Organizational Behavior. She also runs the Leading Strategy Execution Through Culture executive education program. She has served in many other leadership roles at Haas and UC Berkeley over the years. Chatman earned her PhD at Berkeley Haas, and her BA in Psychology from UC Berkeley.

  Laura Kray is a leading expert on the social psychological barriers influencing women’s career attainment.

  Kray is the recipient of multiple research awards from the Academy of Management, the International Association of Conflict Management, and the California Management Review.Kray is a fellow to both the Association for Psychological Science and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. From 2017 to 2018, she was a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. Some of her current research seeks to debunk popular myths about the gender pay gap and to identify solutions to gender inequality in the workplace.

  Kray’s research has been supported multiple times by the National Science Foundation and has been featured in a wide range of media outlets, including the Washington Post, New Yorker, National Public Radio, Harvard Business Review, New York Times, Financial Times, Slate, Forbes, Huffington Post, Daily Beast, Scientific American, Businessweek, and Time.

  In addition to research and teaching, Kray consults frequently with global organizations seeking to develop the next generation of leaders who are committed to addressing issues of diversity and inclusion. Kray founded the Women’s Executive Leadership Program of Berkeley Executive Education in 2008 and she remains the faculty director today. She is also the faculty director of the Center for Equity, Gender, and Leadership.

  Thomas Lee teaches and conducts research on information and communication technologies to support innovation and new product development.

  Lee's recent research has mined the text of online customer reviews to induce market structure and mined electronic medical records to redesign emergency department healthcare service processes. He was a data science fellow at frog Design and has taught with Cooper Design on the integration of data science and user experience design methods.

  He holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from MIT's Engineering Systems Division and B.A. and B.S. degrees in Political Science and Symbolic Systems (Artificial Intelligence) from Stanford University.

  He has served as a visiting scientist at the Computer Security Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, a research engineer at the MITRE Corporation, and as a contractor for DynCorp-Meridian supporting the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency doing research on Internet privacy and security.

  He currently teaches the core undergraduate course on decision modeling and an MBA elective on Design and Development of Web-based Products and Services at UC Berkeley's Haas School. As Director of Data Science for the Fisher Center for Business Analytics in UC Berkeley's Institute for Business Innovation, he is an architect of the Haas School's Business Analytics curriculum. Before Berkeley, he was Assistant Professor of Operations, Information and Decisions at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a recipient of an Excellence in Teaching Award and the David W. Hauck Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, the highest award for undergraduate teaching at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

  Kellie McElhaney is on the Berkeley Haas faculty as a Distinguished Teaching Fellow and the Founding Director of the Center for Equity, Gender and Leadership (EGAL).

  Launched in November 2017, EGAL’s mission is to educate equity fluent leaders to ignite and accelerate change. Equity fluent leaders understand the value of different lived experiences and courageously use their power to address barriers, increase access, and drive change for positive impact. McElhaney helped develop the equity fluent leadership concept and teaches it across the country and around the world.

  In 2003, McElhaney founded the Center for Responsible Business, solidifying corporate responsibility as a core competency and competitive advantage for the Haas School. Haas was rated #1 in the world for corporate responsibility by The Financial Times. She received the Founder and Visionary Award at Haas in 2013 for this work.

  McElhaney wrote a book entitled “Just Good Business: The Strategic Guide to Aligning Corporate Responsibility and Brand.” She writes case studies of companies who are investing in women and equity-fluent leadership (Walmart, Gap, Inc., Boston Consulting Group, Zendesk), and conducts research in the area of equal, pay, conscious inclusion, equity fluent leadership, and value-creating strategies of diversity and inclusion.

  McElhaney consults and keynotes for Global 1000 companies and organizations all over the world on her areas of expertise, and has a TED talk. She is the mother of two incredibly strong teenage daughters.

  Assistant Professor Jo-Ellen Pozner is a former UC Berkeley faculty member who joined Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business in the fall of 2016. Before that, she was on faculty at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley.

  Her research focuses on questions of organizational ethics, corporate governance, social evaluation, and social movements. She is interested in the processes through which we make sense of and evaluate others, particularly around instances of wrongdoing and scandal. The second area of interest investigates the intersection of social movements and markets, including research on movements that promoted organic food, bean-to-bar chocolate, micro-breweries, and low-power FM radio. Finally, she has a particular interest in organizational misconduct, specifically the ways in which misconduct at the organizational level impacts top management and boards of directors at the companies involved.

  Pozner graduated with a Ph.D. in Management and Organizations from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. She holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business, New York University; a Masters in Economics from the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University; and a BSFS in International Economics from the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University.

  David Riemer is an Executive-in-Residence at Berkeley Haas. He is a former ad agency president and internet marketing executive who now works with entrepreneurs, artists, and students to focus their ideas. In short, he helps them get their story straight.

  David created Box Out Industries to work with entrepreneurs and Spiral Staircase to collaborate with artists. He is a regular speaker on innovation, entrepreneurship, and storytelling throughout the Bay Area and internationally as well.

  David started his career as an assistant account executive at J. Walter Thompson New York and eventually became President of JWT West. In 1998, he left advertising and brought his strategic and marketing leadership to two Internet start-ups – Quokka Sports and the FeedRoom. He later joined Yahoo! in 2002 as VP marketing. In various roles at Yahoo!, David led business-to-business and consumer marketing efforts across virtually all of Yahoo!’s products, serving 500 million users globally. David holds an MBA from Columbia and BA from Brown University. He serves on the Board of the American Conservatory Theater and the Destiny Arts Center.

  Omar Romero-Hernandez is a continuing lecturer in the Haas Operations and IT Management Group and the Institute for Business and Social Impact at the Haas School of Business. He leads the Advanced Project Management Practice for the Graduate Programs.

  Romero-Hernandez is a chemical engineer with graduate studies in Economic Policy and Government and a PhD in Process Economics and Environmental Impact from Imperial College, England. He has worked for a diverse range of public and private organizations such as Procter & Gamble, PEMEX (Oil & Gas), Accenture, and the federal government. He has over 25 years of experience working in medium and large complex projects. He has led several internationally awarded projects in the field of digital transformation, sustainable business strategies, renewable energy, and business processes – sponsors include the United Nations, USAID, Industry consortiums, S&P 500 companies, the Stock Exchange and NGOs.

  Currently, he is an international educator, board member, national researcher, and author of various books including: "Introduction to Engineering, Renewable Energy Technologies and Policies," and "Industry and the Environment," and several peer reviewed international publications on project management, business modeling, green operations, and sustainable development.

  In 2010, Romero-Hernandez was a first place laureate for the Franz Edelman Award, the world’s most prestigious award on operations research and management science applications.

  Juliana Schroeder is an associate professor in the Management of Organizations group at Berkeley Haas. She holds the Harold Furst Chair in Management Philosophy and Values, and serves as the Barbara and Gerson Bakar Faculty Fellow.

  Schroeder's research explores how people make social inferences about others. She is a Faculty Affiliate in the Social Psychology Department, the Cognition Department, and the Center for Human-Compatible AI at UC Berkeley. She teaches the Negotiations and Conflict Resolution course at Haas.

  Schroeder researches how people navigate their social worlds, including how people form inferences about others’ mental capacities and how these inferences influence their interactions. In particular, she studies how language affects the expression of one’s own — and the evaluation of others’ — mental capacities.

  Her research has been published in a wide range of academic journals and in several book chapters. It has been featured by media outlets, including the New York Times, Washington Post, Harvard Business Review, NPR, and the Today Show. She has received funding from the National Science Foundation and awards from the Association for Psychological Science and the American Psychological Association. In addition to conducting research and teaching, Schroeder is a co-founder of the Psychology of Technology Institute, which supports and advances scientific research studying psychological consequences and antecedents of technological advancements.

  Schroeder's educational background includes a BA in psychology and economics from the University of Virginia, an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business, and an MA and PhD in psychology and business from the University of Chicago.

  Sahar Yousef is a cognitive neuroscientist and a lecturer at the Haas School of Business. Her 10-plus years of research on “making superhumans” sheds light on how to improve focus, memory, and overall human performance in as little as six weeks.

  Yousef completed her Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience at UC Berkeley in 2018 doing research in the field of brain plasticity. For the past 10+ years, she has conducted research on human performance enhancement and cognitive training. She specializes in taking already high-performing individuals and enabling them to focus longer and process information faster, with less neural effort.

  Yousef helps companies apply and leverage cutting-edge neuroscience research to improve productivity, innovation, wellness, and talent retention. She does this by creating customized training programs, curating scientifically validated techniques and effective habit-forming systems to actually change the way people, teams, and organizations work.

  Yousef also founded Productivity House, a high-performance club where ambitious professionals are assessed and trained by experts to optimize their workday, focus, prioritize, and get more done in less time and with less stress. She has directed and co-founded three international conferences and served as president to multiple organizations, been granted several awards for leadership excellence, and also co-founded three courses at UC Berkeley. She sits on the advisory board to three organizations and companies, has worked as a product manager, and consulted on growth, strategy, and UX research in a variety of sectors. She also completed her undergraduate education at UC Berkeley studying Cognitive Science.

  Outside of the academic world, Yousef is the founder and managing director of Becoming Superhuman, a productivity training and consulting firm which teaches busy professionals how to get their most important work done, in less time, with less stress. Her work has been featured in Forbes and Business Insider.
