  Professor of Information Systems

  Robert D. Austin is a professor of Information Systems at Ivey Business School, and an affiliated faculty member at Harvard Medical School. Before his appointment at Ivey, he was a professor of Innovation and Digital Transformation at Copenhagen Business School, and, before that, a professor of Technology and Operations Management at the Harvard Business School. At Harvard, he chaired the executive program for Chief Information Officers (CIOs) for more than ten years.

  Professor Austin has published widely, in both academic and professional venues, such as Harvard Business Review, Information Systems Research, MIT Sloan Management Review, Organization Science, Organization Studies, and the Wall Street Journal. He also is the author of ten books, more than 100 published cases and notes, three Harvard online products, and two popular Massively Open Online Courses (MOOCs). His “Cyberattack!" Simulation won the 2019 International Serious Play Gold Medal. His research on neurodiversity employment programs is funded by SSHRC.

  Over the years, Dr. Austin has consulted with and delivered education experiences to many multinational corporations, working mostly with C-level executives, and he has served on numerous boards, especially for technology companies. He is a member of the international jury for the CIO 100 Awards, a judge for MIT Sloan’s International CIO Leadership Award, and he has advised the European Commission on “e- Competencies for Innovation” and “e-Leadership.”

  Mehmet Begen

  Professor of Industrial Engineering and Management Science

  Professor Mehmet A. Begen is an industrial engineer, a management scientist and an associate in the Ivey Business School at the Western University. Besides Ivey, he is cross-appointed at the departments of Statistical & Actuarial Sciences and Epidemiology & Biostatistics at the Western.

  Mehmet's research interests are management science/analytics applications, data-driven approaches, and in particular, scheduling and operations management in healthcare. He has been a PI or co-PI for NSERC Discovery Grants, Cancer Care Ontario Research Grant, NSERC Undergraduate Student Awards, and others. Mehmet’s research won a top prize in the “Optimize the Real World” competition hosted by FICO for solving real business problems with use of analytics, developing mathematical models with data, and obtaining managerial insights.

  He has PhD and MS degrees in management science from Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, and a BS degree in industrial engineering from Middle East Technical University in Turkey.

  Mehmet is a Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), worked in management consulting before his PhD studies and is a recipient of CORS (Canadian Operational Research Society) Practice Prize and served as the president of CORS. He teaches courses on analytical modeling, financial analytics, analytics projects, big data tools, and statistics.

  Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Faculty Director for Executive Education

  Martha Maznevski is a professor of organizational behaviour and faculty director for executive education at Ivey. She is an expert in global teams, global leadership, culture and identity, and empowering individual differences. She has published widely on these topics in academic and management arenas, and also works closely with leaders and their companies around the world on innovative approaches to leadership at all levels in today’s highly complex global environment.

  Dr. Maznevski completed her PhD at Ivey with research on multicultural teams, and has expanded that research stream throughout her career. She publishes the popular textbook "International Management Behavior," now in its 7th edition, with Ivey professors emeriti H. Lane and J. DiStefano. Her research has been published in leading journals including Journal of International Business Studies and Strategic Management Journal. Her current research unlocks the performance dynamics of lateral teams – teams that coordinate across multi-unit organizations such as global key account teams or matrixed product or function groups.

  Fredrik Odegaard

  Professor of Management Science

  Fredrik Odegaard is an associate professor of management science at the Ivey Business School, with cross-appointment at the Department of Applied Mathematics, Western University. He received his PhD from Sauder School of Business at University of British Columbia, dual Masters degrees in Operations Research and Statistics from Stanford University, and a BSc in Purchasing and Logistics Management from Arizona State University.

  While at Ivey Business School, Dr. Odegaard has developed several courses and taught extensively across the EMBA, MBA, MSc, HBA, and PhD programs. In addition, he has taught several non-degree executive programs through the Ivey Academy.

  Prior to his academic career, Dr. Odegaard worked as a Supply Chain Consultant for i2 Technologies and Programme Director at RR Institute of Applied Economics. Dr. Odegaard’s research focus and expertise spans Revenue Management and Health Care Operations. His research has been published in academic journals, such as Production and Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, and Journal of Revenue and Pricing Management, as well as in practitioner oriented journals, such as Journal of Healthcare Quality and European Journal of Ultrasound. Professor Odegaard is an editorial board member of the Journal of Revenue and Pricing Management and served as the 2015-2016 President of the Canadian Operational Research Society (CORS).

  Professor of Organizational Behaviour

  Fernando Olivera is an associate professor in organizational behavior at the Ivey Business School. He joined the Ivey Faculty in 1998. He earned a PhD and M.S. in Industrial Administration from the Graduate School of Industrial Administration at Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. in Electronics Engineering from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico.

  Olivera's primary research interests are in the areas of organizational memory, group and individual learning, and the impact of communication technology on group work. His work has been published in the Academy of Management Review, Small Group Research, the Journal of Management Studies, the Research on "Managing Groups and Teams" book series, and other books and conference proceedings. He co-edited the volume "Organizational Learning and Knowledge Management: New Directions." He has presented his work at various academic conferences, including the Academy of Management Annual Meetings, the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences. He is a member of the editorial review board of the Journal of Organizational Behavior.

  Hayden Woodley

  Professor of Organizational Behaviour

  Dr. Hayden J. R. Woodley is an assistant professor of organizational behaviour in the Ivey Business School at Western University. Further, he is a contributing member of the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership at the Ivey Business School.

  Prior to joining the Ivey Business School, Dr. Woodley was an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), where he was an academic director for business co-op and the Chair of the UPEI Research Ethics Board. Dr. Woodley completed both his MSc and PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology in the Department of Psychology at Western University. He also currently holds the Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.

  Dr. Woodley’s primary research areas are leadership and followership in organizations, and – more generally – the role of human resource management in team environments (e.g., selection, management, and compensation). Dr. Woodley’s research has appeared in prestigious scholarly journals such as the Journal of Management and the Academy of Management Learning & Education and has received support from funding agencies such as Mitacs and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). Dr. Woodley has also disseminated research evidence in practitioner-focused journals such as the Canadian HR Reporter. Dr. Woodley has over 10 years of practical experience, working on various leadership and management projects both internally and externally as a consultant.
